Checkered Can Cozy - Free Crochet Pattern
These cozies will fit a standard 12 ounce can or bottle. They are made with a simple single crochet stitch, but you are working with two yarns at once and switching colors often, so it might be a little challenging to a beginner.
The color blocks are created using a technique where rather than cutting the yarn after each color change, you will instead carry the yarn though the item. This technique also makes the item a little bit thicker, which is perfect for something like a can cozy so it will hold its shape better.

CROCHET PATTERN: Checkered Can/Bottle Cozy
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate because of all the color switching, but it is explained thoroughly for beginners. MATERIALS Crochet Hook size H8/5mm Yarn Needle and Scissors for weaving in ends. Two different colors of worsted weight yarn. I use this kitchen cotton yarn. ABBREVIATIONS CH = Chain RND = Round SC = Single Crochet SL ST = Slip Stitch ColorA = Main color, the color on the bottom and the top trim. ColorB= Accent color, to make the checkered pattern.
GAUGE 1 inch x 1 inch = 4 stitches and 4 rows of SC
NOTES
Working with two colors at once will cause the balls of yarn to get twisted. Stop and untwist them as needed.
